Examples of application

The robotized complex "Expertise-VA-2D" when equipped with the "3 in 1" electrode allows to transfer the electrode from one solution to another one without of the breaking the electrochemical circuit due to the residual droplet of liquid on the top of the electrode, which hangs due to the forces of the surface tension. This simple trick provides the possibility to perform a number of important analytical procedures, which otherwise cannot be accomplished on a solid-state electrode.

Manganese

Manganese can be turned into the form of the aqueous solutions from a wide range of the analyzed objects. The problem to determine manganese with the mercury film electrode lies in the contradiction between the conditions to precipitate mercury and to precipitate manganese onto the surface of the working electrode by electroplating. It is not possible to precipitate manganese from the acidic solution, because all the current is used to evolve hydrogen, and it is not possible to obtain a good mercury film from the neutral or alkaline solution.
The system of the change of the solution without of the breaking the electrochemical circuit enables to accumulate the mercury film in one glass in the acidic medium, and then accumulate and determine manganese in the hydrocarbonate or other alkaline solution. The detection limit is 0,1 µg/dm3 or with the extended accumulation time 0,01 µg/dm3.

The measurement of zinc, cadmium, lead, copper without mineralization of the sample

The results of the measurement of zinc, cadmium, lead, copper in natural surface water containing up to 100 mg/dm3 humic substances with the use of robotized complex "Expertise-VA-2D" with the "3 in 1" electrode and the addition of nitric acid to the sample to make the total concentration of the acid in the cell 0,1 without mineralization of the sample coincided with the result, obtained with ICP and AAS within 5%. Selenium

The principle of measurement: Selenium (IV) (the form, obtained from food, soil, water, medicals and other smples by sample pretreatment) is accumulated on the electrode in the form of copper selenide, the unique compound with a very small solubility in water. The use of robotized complex "Expertise-VA-2D" with the "3 in 1" electrode provides the possibility to prepare the copper-doped mercury film from the separate solution and than transfer it into the tested solution. The step of the measurement is the reduction of the copper selenide to hydrogen selenide. Such an approach provides the reproducible determination of selenium in the range from 0,2 to 100 µg/dm3.
